History

Fifty years on the south Island

Velox RFC was established in 1968 and played its first season in the Vancouver Island Rugby Union in 1969.

The club has been through several changes since. Velox RFC and the UVic Valhallians merged in 1987 and played as Velox Valhallians RFC until the move to West Shore Parks and Recreation in 2015, when the club became Westshore Rugby Football Club. Much of what follows is first-hand, written by the people who were there.

Westshore has kept going for over fifty years on the work of its players, managers, directors, volunteers and supporters. These pages are where that record lives.
