Stay inside for 30 minutes after the last rumble of thunder is heard.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"208\">Website to check wait times at all care facilities:<\/td>\n<td width=\"520\">Edwaittimes.ca<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"208\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"520\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"208\"><\/td>\n<td width=\"520\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN FACT SHEET <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>EAP Checklist:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Charge person and 2 back ups<\/li>\n<li>Call person and secondary call person<\/li>\n<li>Emergency phone numbers, including emergency services, facility manager or superintendent<\/li>\n<li>Address of the site of facility and nearest hospital<\/li>\n<li>Directions to the facility (optional: provide a map for reference to the access point for ambulance, see below for an example)<\/li>\n<li>Additional location info as required<\/li>\n<li>Attach each participant\u2019s parent or caregiver contact info and medical profile to your EAP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Be Prepared:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have a properly stocked first-aid kit easily accessible at all times<\/li>\n<li>Always have a cell phone with a fully charged battery<\/li>\n<li>Know the location of a telephone you can use if you are unable to use a cell phone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Roles and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Charge Person \u2013 This person must wear a mask and gloves while assessing an injury<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This person should be the team therapist or a coach<\/li>\n<li>Conduct an initial assessment of the injury<\/li>\n<li>Protect yourself with gloves and a mask if you cannot maintain a distance of 2 metres<\/li>\n<li>Assess ABCs (<strong>A<\/strong>irway is clear, <strong>B<\/strong>reathing and pulse are present, <strong>C<\/strong>irculation check for no major bleeding)<\/li>\n<li>Wait with the injured person until the ambulance arrives and the injured person is transported<\/li>\n<li>Record the injury using the Club\u2019s accident report form<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Call Person \u2013 This person must wear a mask and gloves while the EAP is activated<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This person is appointed by the charge person<\/li>\n<li>Call the ambulance and relays necessary information about the injury over the phone, including: facility location, nature of injury, description of first aid that has been done, allergies and other medical problems for the athlete<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Secondary Call Person \u2013 This person must wear a mask and gloves while the EAP is activated<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist the call person with crowd control, to help direct the ambulance when it arrives.<\/li>\n<li>Call the contact person listen on the injured person\u2019s medical profile<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Activating the EAP:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><u>Control the environment<\/u>\n<ol>\n<li>When a participant is injured, control the environment to prevent further harm: stop activity, shelter the injured person if outdoors, wear gloves and a mask<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><u>Assess the situation (charge person performs ABCs)<\/u>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Activate the EAP if the participant: (to activate, the Charge person directs the call person to call 9-1-1)<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Isn\u2019t breathing<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Doesn\u2019t have a pulse<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Is bleeding excessively<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Shows impaired consciousness (confused or disoriented)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Injured their back, neck or head<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Visible, major trauma to a limb<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol>\n<li>Move to Step 3 if the participant doesn\u2019t show any of the above signs<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><u>Gather the facts<\/u>\n<ol>\n<li>Talk to the injured person and ask anyone else who saw what happened. If possible, the participant should move themselves off the playing surface. Never attempt to move an injured participant yourself. Stay with the injured participant and help them stay calm<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><u>Assess the injury<\/u>\n<ol>\n<li>Someone with first aid training should complete an injury assessment and decide how to proceed. Activate the EAP if the assessor is not sure how severe the injury is or there is nobody with first-aid training present.
