Rod Parker of Parker Johnston Roofing
BIO: Parker Johnston was founded in 1950, and quickly established itself as a firm with integrity and expertise. Its founding partners Walter Parker and Bill Johnston offered roofing and insulation services, tiles, flooring and building supplies. Walter Parker’s son, Dan Parker, joined the Company in 1968 and quickly went to work learning the ropes. Parker Johnston continued to thrive and grow through a lot of hard work and dedication to customer service and eventually expanded its services from the initial regions of Greater Victoria and Duncan to the entire Island, now serving Calgary as well. By 1999, the Company has altered its focus to specialize in roofing and cladding and had now become a third generation business with the addition of Rod Parker. Parker Johnston has since grown to become one of the largest roofing and cladding contractors in BC with over 200 employees. In 2001, Rod Parker became a partner in the family business, overseeing daily operations and looks forward to continuing the legacy created by his grandfather and father. Rod played for Velox Valhallians Men’s team as a prop from 2000-20005, winning the VIRU Championships in 2004. Since then he and his company have been a major sponsor for Velox/Westshore, especially with the Youth and Junior programs and equipment.
