Westshore RFC Mission and Values
Westshore Rugby Football Club is committed to building excellence on and off the field.
We have seven values that guide our actions and behaviours:
- Accountability
- Community
- Discipline
- Enjoyment
- Respect
- Sportsmanship
- Teamwork
BC Rugby Union Code of Conduct
Westshore RFC and its individual members also commit to the BCRU Code of Conduct.
The Code of Conduct states that BC Rugby is committed to creating a fun, positive sport environment that is accessible, inclusive, respectful of all Participants, and is free from all forms of Maltreatment.
There are four core values in the Code of Conduct:
- Safety
- Integrity
- Respect
- Inclusion for all
What All of This Means
Every person has a responsibility to keep the various values identified above in mind when participating in our great game.
Spectators, players and coaches have a responsibility to treat the referees, who facilitate games being played, with dignity and respect. Think about who is listening and absorbing what is being said.
Coaches, managers and administrators have a responsibility to ensure the safety of participants, particularly young athletes. Think about how to ensure they can and will participate now and in the future.
We will do all of this together, and we will find productive ways to address instances that do not meet the standards expected. Raising concerns promptly, respectfully and directly with the relevant people is often the best way for a community to navigate issues and potential areas of conflict.
If you have a concern that you can’t adequately address on your own or within your team, then please raise it with your program director or a senior member of the board. We have a disciplinary process and committee that we use to address serious instances or allegations of misconduct.
